Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor who is best recognized for her role as Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue in which she earned the Emmy Award. She is also known for her roles in the drama series All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney was the sole child of an United Auto Workers executive and his wife, who was a domestic worker. Her childhood was spent within a household which included four brothers. She dreamed of being a reporter for the court in the early years of her life, however she began modelling in high school eventually garnering commercials after moving into New York. Her first appearance as an actor came as a young girl in the soap opera All My Children. Since then, Delaney has been in a variety of films television movies and dramas. She has not had a good or satisfying personal life. She has been in the past talented actress struggled to overcome alcoholism and had two marriages that failed. In 2005, she lost the custody of her son.
